- The Women's Health Strategy Discussion Document (from MWA web site)
- A draft of the Women's Health Strategy is available for public consultation. The Ministry is keen to receive feedback, particulary on the draft objectives, from women and women's organisations to ensure that the Strategy reflects the needs of New Zealand women.
- Please contact Dairne Grant, c/- Ministry of Women's Affairs, PO Box 10-049, Wellington, or phone (04) 460 5852, or email grant@mwa.govt.nz , with your feedback.
- The final results of the Humanities and Social Sciences repositioning at Massey University are as follows: Two positions were disestablished while Jenny Coleman and Lynne Alice have been confirmed in the only two remaining Women's Studies positions (which have yet to be specified). The courses and supervision available from 2001 from Massey staff remain unconfirmed at this time. The repositioning constraints on the programme remain in relation to the BA major and all on campus taught undergraduate level papers will be disestablished from this year; only core postgrad. papers will be taught as needed, and the programme reviewed within 2 years.
- Women's Equity Network in New Zealand (WENinNZ)
- This is a new email list set up by Lynne Dempsey (spokesperson for Divorce Equity) as a discussion forum for women who want to share ideas and information about women and justice issues. Right now the focus of the list is developing some strategies to get the Property (Relationships) bill through the Select Committee intact (or improved). Further down the track it is envisioned that WENinNZ will be a space to organise effective lobbying, political action and media coverage to promote the interests of women. Other concerns include the proposed reviews of the Guardianship Act and the Family Court; custody and access ideology. Is the Domestic Violence Act working for women?
